About the course:

The try freediving course is for the absolute beginner who want to wet their feet freediving but unsure if they are ready for the full stage A beginner course. over half a day you will be briefed on the basics of freediving and how to dive safely with an introductory session in the ocean.

ON THIS COURSE WE WILL COVER THESE SUBJECTS:

  • Beginner freediving techniques

  • how to equalise

  • introduction to freediving equipment

  • how to breathe and recover

  • Safety in freediving

  • how to rescue a diver

Required Gear:

You will need to bring your own equipment (if you have any) - Mask, Snorkel, fins, wetsuit and weightbelt. The gear does not have to be freediving gear but it is recommended. During the session we will also discuss basic equipment options

If you do not have any equipment - please notify your instructor before the course so that we could provide you with options. we carry some student equipment for use but may also direct you to local hiring options

FAQs

  • Freediving like any activity has its risks but with any other sport as long as you follow the basic safety rules you can help prevent almost any accidents. the primary focus of the stage A is to teach you all the foundations of safe freediving

  • When you sign up you will be given a standard medical questionnaire where you are required to answer YES or NO , any YES answer will require a Doctors visit to be cleared to dive. it is also a requirement for divers over 50 years of age

  • As freediving is a ocean activity it is required that you are comfortable in the water and able to comfortably swim at least 400m. if you are unsure of your ability or would like advice on swim training please get in contact

  • When we are diving in the ocean there is always a chance of encountering a shark. however these encounters are not regular and most of the species we encounter are juvenile dusky whaler sharks and grey nurses which are considered harmless to humans
